Centre for Political Communications Research of the Institute for Political Sciences (IPS) - Budapest, Hungary The Institute for Political Science (IPS) is a Budapest-based research institute which works as a part of the network of Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The Institute has 42 permanent and many affiliated research fellows. The IPS carries out theoretical, empirical and comparative researches primarily in the field of political science, and to a considerable extent in the field of related social sciences (sociology, anthropology, philosophy) as well. The task of IPS is to continuously study Hungarian political life, to describe and interpret the decisive trends. The research activities of the Institute cover a broad area of topics; globalisation, European studies, political theories, electoral studies, party politics, public policies, media studies and political communication. The Institute has built up a broad domestic research network; it serves as a centre and a background institution for political science research conducted in several places in Hungary. The IPS participates in a number of research projects together with other Hungarian and international institutions funded by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund, National Office for Research and Technology and the Framework Programmes of European Union (FP5, FP6, FP7). In the JUSTIS project we contribute to the work which leads to the evaluation of current social indicators, and instructions for developing new indicators of public confidence in criminal justice. Furthermore, the IPS conducts media analysis which focuses on the media coverage concerning crime and justice-related issues. The leader of IPS team is Zsolt Boda (senior research fellow, PhD in Political Science). Gabriella Szabó (junior research fellow, PhD student) is the research assistant, and she co-ordinates the work on media coverage. Zsuzsanna Mihályffy (junior research fellow, PhD student) and Ágnes Rigó (MA in Political Science) participate in the media analysis.
