Project Partners
Coordinator: Institute for Criminal Policy Research, King’s College London (KCL) – London, UK The Institute for Criminal Policy Research is part of the School of Law at KCL. The School of Law is an internationally renowned research-led law school. It is one of the largest law schools in the UK and offers students the opportunity to study a hugely varied range of subjects under the supervision of nationally and internationally recognised scholars. It has a large PhD research programme, in additional to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It has 60 academic members and 3 associated research centres, including the Institute for Criminal Policy Research, which will play a major role in the EUROJUSTIS project. The Institute specialises in empirical research on criminal policy. It has mounted an extensive programme of research on experience of, and attitudes to, justice. It has a track-record in managing large-scale evaluations and survey-based work. KCL will coordinate the EUROJUSTIS consortium and manage the EUROJUSTIS project. It will also contribute to all the other WPs. The personnel involved in the project will be: Mike Hough, Professor of Criminal Policy and Director of the Institute for Criminal Policy Research, is a leading British criminologist. He has published extensively on the management and governance of criminal justice, on sentencing, policing and on public knowledge of, and attitudes towards, criminal justice. He has worked extensively on projects for the Home Office. Ben Bowling is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Visiting Professor at the University of the West Indies. He is one of the country’s leading experts on race, ethnicity and crime, and has also published widely on policing. Elaine Player is Reader in Criminology and Criminal Justice and visiting lecturer at the University of Hong Kong. Her research interests are focused in sentencing and penology, and she is an expert on gender and criminal justice. Tim McSweeney is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Criminal Policy Research. He is an expert in survey and statistical analysis, and has extensive experience of evaluative research in criminal justice. Isabella Boyce is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Criminal Policy Research. Her PhD research focused on community responses to sexual offending and she is currently working on a large-scale project on differential treatment by the youth justice system of different ethnic groups.
